If you’re not humming one of these songs by the time you’ve finished reading the post, I haven’t tried hard enough.
That’s right: love is in the air here at The Bulb. (Thanks John Paul Young)
Tomorrow, Bulbette Sarah will marry her long-time love, Jonny. The forecast is good, the vows are written and it promises to be a very, very special day. There will be a garden party and games, a grand old house and rambling gardens, Great Gatsby-style outfits, champagne and a good many other things besides.
In preparing for my little contribution to the wedding, I got looking about for inspiration from other couples who have lived a long and happy life together. The pair that jumped to mind (other than my parents) was Johnny Cash and June Carter.
If you need any reminding, here’s the song Johnny and June are perhaps best known for, Jackson. Check out the chemistry between them would you!
Another favourite is Ring of Fire, written by June when she found herself falling in love with the (then married) Johnny. They ended up singing it together. Och. What a song of passion.
We know Johnny Cash could pen great lines to songs, but did you know he also wrote fantastic love letters?
How’s this one, written when he and June were a bit older, and obviously not performing together any more:
Or this romantic to-do list:
May our very own Jonny and beautiful Sarah live a long and blessed life together, and may their love remain hotter than a pepper sprout.
